February 28, 2026, was the first day the US/Isael versus Iran war started in the Middle East when United States and Israel launched large airstrikes on Iran, and Iran retaliated with missiles and drones. The very next day Iran confirms that their leader, Ali Khamenei, had been killed as well as several other top military and government officials were also confirmed dead. This was one of the largest blows to Iran which escalated the war even more quickly.
The U.S. and Israel carried out dozens of strikes across the country (about 70+ reported). They destroyed many places like Military bases, missile sites, Government buildings and Intelligence headquarters. They also included civil buildings including hospitals, residential areas, and government courts. The US/Iran used a variety of advanced weapons like B-2 stealth bombers, Fighter jets and cruise missiles.
Iran in retaliation, launched ballistic missiles toward Cyprus (near UK military bases) but the missiles were intercepted before impact. Iran quickly set up a temporary leadership council to run the country after Khamenei’s death. The conflict began affecting multiple countries and military bases across the region.
On March 3, 2026, heavy airstrikes hit key Iranian institutions like the state TV headquarters were struck, the parliament building was targeted, and another strike had damaged the Assembly of Experts building. Iran retaliated with several drone strikes. One drone attacked the oil terminal in Fujairah, another targeted was the US Embassy in Saudia Arabia, no casualties occurred but there were reports of major damage. Iran reported around 787 people were killed and thousands more were injured.
March 4 created the widespread escalation of the war. The U.S. and Israel launched one of the largest waves of strikes across Iran so far Targets included, Missile launch sites, Military bases, Command centers, Infrastructure (including energy-related sites) were all strikes in multiple cities at once. Iran retaliates by launching more missiles and drones across the region including the US bases in the Middle East and Allied military bases. March 5, 2026, Attacks on energy infrastructure started affecting oil facilities and fuel storage sites. This caused global oil supply distributions. This was also the day that global trade routes were threatened and even more countries started looking at involvement in the war.
There were weeks of the back and forth between US/Israel vs Iran was until April 6th or 7th, when the US and Iran agreed to a temporary 2-week ceasefire, Israel also agreed to be added to that ceasefire agreement. The ceasefire was not immediate as fighting only partially stopped, there were early violations, and Israel paused on major attacks. The focus was finally turning into negotiations, not combat, ceasefire officially begins. some attacks still happen, Israel launches major strikes in Lebanon, Oil routes partially reopen, peace talks begin—but are tense and uncertain
Knowing the history, the tensions, the retaliations, and the lies spread all through this war, will the US and Israel finally take them out if this ceasefire doesn’t work? What are your thoughts?
